Khalid Hasan Bogra: Another person named Abdur Rahim (42) died due to poisonous liquor in Bogra. The death toll has risen to 18. Police have so far arrested four people in the incident. They were detained between 11pm on Tuesday (February 2) evening.
Police arrested Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan at a press briefing at Sadar Police Station at 11:30 am on Wednesday (February 3rd).
The arrested are: Md. Parul Laboratories. Nurunnabi, Abdul Khaleq of Moon Homoeo Hall, Abu Jewel of Hassan Homoeo Pharmacy and Shahidul Alam Sabur of Karatoya Homoeo Hall.
Death toll rises:
At the press briefing, the superintendent of police said, “A case has been registered with the Sadar police station in connection with the death due to drinking poisonous alcohol.” We have been working continuously for 2 days after the incident. The operation is still going on. Among them, Sadar police team arrested 4 people. The names of those who were originally involved in this have been removed from our investigation. They have been arrested. However, Parul Homoeo Laboratories is big. The main supply comes from Parul Homoeo Laboratories.
Superintendent of Police Ali Ashraf added, “In the initial investigation, we found that mixing methanol with rectifier spirit poisoned it. That is what happened. But rectifier spirit and methanol look the same, so buyers don’t understand. That is why this accident happened.
Apart from Abdur Rahim, the others who died were Ramnath Rabidas (60) of Tinmatha Puran Bogra Dakshinpara area and Ramzan Ali (65) of Puran Bogra Ziladarpara, factory worker Palash Hossain (34) and hotel worker Saju Mia (55) of Katnarpara area. Sumon Rabidas, 38, of Dakshinpara area of Old Bogra, and Alamgir Hossain, 55, a hotelier of Charmatha Bhaberbazar area of Bogra.
Besides, mason Ramzan Ali (60) of Tinmatha Puran Bogra area, chef Mozahar Ali (65) of Hatumia Lane in Katnarpara and autorickshaw driver Kalam Mia (50) of Kahalu municipal area, Premnath Rabidas (60) of Puran Bogra area, Phampor (60). The deceased have been identified as Abdul Jalil, 65, a rickshaw puller from Fulbari Madhyapara, Mehedi Hasan, 26, an autotempu maker from Shajahanpur and Ahad Ali, 38, a land surveyor from Dakshin Katabari village.
